Japanese is spoken by about 125 million people in Japan and its several islands. Although not closely related to any other language, scholars suspect it has a very distant relation to Korean.  Japanese uses a system of relative honorifics, employing different sets of vocabulary and word-form based upon the relative statues of the speaker, listener, and the outside referent.
