The Language Adventure Control Panel

The Microphone: Clicking this button enables the student to record the narration that was just heard. On clicking it again, the student's narration will be replayed followed by the foreign model narration. Clicking again allows the over-recording of the student's original narration thereby enabling the iterative improvement in pronunciation. Recording is done in one of the three selectable modes: Very High Quality, High Quality or Economy.

The Lesson Maps: Clicking this button brings up the lesson map. The map shows where the student is, where he still needs to go and grades in the various narration points and quizzes. It also allows listening to any of the points and random access to them.

Forward: Clicking this button advances the lesson to the next narration point or quiz point.

Replay: Clicking this button replays the current narration point or quiz point. It will play in the selected language modes.

Review: Clicking this button replays the current narration point or quiz point. It will play in the selected language modes.

The Lesson Library: Clicking this button opens the lesson library to enable the selection of language adventures. The default is lesson 1. A lesson cannot be accessed unless its preceding one has been completed. This can be overruled in set-up.

The Language Modes: These buttons enable the selection of which languages are to be heard when reviewing a lesson or playing right through a completed lesson. The three modes are: Native, Foreign and Student.

Reports: Clicking this button accesses reports on student progress.

Exit: Clicking this button exits the program.

Play Through: Clicking this button plays through the whole adventure in the various language modes set. The student usually uses this at the end to enjoy the entire movie in his own narration.

Progress Meter: This is a visual indicator of how far the student has progressed in a particular lesson.

Stop: Clicking this button stops the movie.

Help: Clicking this button brings up the Professor in his lab. Then clicking any other button explains exactly what it does in the selected language modes.

Set-Up: This is an adult/teacher button which enables the program to be set up optimally for the student. The language modes, their sequence and repetitions are all set from here. Also a choice of three recording qualities is given. The lesson locks can be also disabled for very young children or those with attention difficulties so they can just enjoy the adventures without any interaction required.
